Chamber Committees

Get Involved – Join a Chamber Committee!

Working with a committee is a great way to network and meet people, be involved in an issue that interests you, and learn and practice leadership skills. Below is a brief summary of what each Midway Chamber Committee.

Ambassadors
The Ambassadors mission is to welcome new members and new businesses to the Chamber and encourage their participation in Chamber activities.  Ambassadors meet one-on-one with Chamber members to present annual membership certificates and represent the Chamber at community functions, groundbreakings, and store openings. This is a great networking opportunity.  (Meets approximately 6 times a year at various times and locations)

Economic Development
The Economic Development Committee encourages and guides economic development in the Midway through advocacy, policy and program development, support for existing business and recruitment of new business.  Current priorities include working with the Metropolitan Council on the development of the Central Corridor Light Rail transit system.  (Meets the 4th Tuesday of the month at 12:00 p.m.)

Development
A critical committee for the health of the Chamber!  This group actively works to attract members to the Chamber through personal networking, creation of recruitment strategies, and follow-up with current and prospective members.  This also is a great way to meet people and build your referral network.  (Meets monthly from July to October).

Education
This is the Chamber’s newest committee.  This group works together to bring educational programming to our members.  Some of the topics include networking, social media, human resources and financial planning for your business.  This is a great way to share your business skills and learn from other Chamber members.  The committee meets the 2nd Tuesday of event month and offers an education session the 4th Wednesday of every month).

Midway Gala/Auction
Creates and implements the Chamber’s major fundraising event.  Primary responsibilities include soliciting silent auction donations, creating a theme for the event, handling logistics, and ensuring a smooth, successful evening.  (Meets monthly September through February).

Midway on the Fairway
Handles arrangements, format and details of annual golf tournament, including design of contests, solicitation of door prizes and giveaway items, etc.  (Meets monthly from January to June).
