What is Music & Memory?
Founded in 2010, Music & Memory is a non-profit organization that helps enhance the lives of older adults in care facilities through the use of personalized music on iPods. The program's work is rooted in extensive neuroscience research, and some of the proven benefits include:
- Increased resident cooperation and attention,
- Reduced resistance to care and agitation, and
- Enhanced engagement and socialization with others
How can you help?
Our goal is to be able to bring the healing power of music to all 237 Lyngblomsten Care Center residents to help them feel connected to their memories, their lives, and each other.
Here are 4 ways you can contribute to the Lyngblomsten iPod Project for Music & Memory:
- Donate a gently used or new iPod
- Donate an iTunes gift card or new or used CDs
- Donate $49 to purchase a new iPod Shuffle
- Designate a gift to Music & Memory/Artful Living
