The arrival of a widely available vaccine for the coronavirus remains beyond our current horizon, and some experts predict the “social distancing” environment could last for years instead of months. Do we need to start thinking about redesigning the spaces in which we physically interact with one another? Will the “office” or the “store” need to be redesigned? Are the days of shoulder to shoulder entertainment venues and sports stadiums a bygone era? Can we redesign our social gathering places to give people the confidence that they can safely return?
