Dawn Zugay, senior counsel with Mendoza Law Office, will discuss the legal and practical aspects of fiscal sponsorship, when fiscal sponsorships make sense and when they don’t.
Joanna Schnedler, the new Executive Director of the Minnesota Music Coalition (MMC), will talk about her vision for the MMC and how nonprofits like the MMC can support and grow the work of social entrepreneurs through fiscal sponsorship. She will also discuss the practical aspects of being a fiscal sponsor and the factors that she considers in deciding whether to sponsor a new social entrepreneurial initiative.
Alexei Moon Casselle, co-founder of Voices in the Back (VITB), will discuss his new social entrepreneurial initiative to provide ongoing conversations about equity and diversity in the music industry. He will also discuss how establishing a fiscal sponsorship relationship with MMC helped him launch VITB, and why fiscal sponsorship as opposed to organizing in a new 501(c)(3) was the right decision for VITB.
***The Midway Chamber, in partnership with Hamline University, is doing a multi-part series dedicated to nonprofits. Whether you work for a nonprofit, serve on a board, or are interested in how nonprofits function, you are invited to attend.***
